CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Introduction:

          On 02-02-2024, a special programme was held at PPG College of Arts and Science to teach students about cervical cancer. The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) association teamed up with Aswin Hospital to organize this important event.

Event Highlights:

          The programme commenced at 10:30 AM with the esteemed presence of two distinguished doctors Dr. Abinaya and Dr. N. Nithyaanandan from Aswin Hospital. Their expertise and insights added immense value to the awareness programme. To set the tone for the programme, students presented a mime act to highlight the importance of cervical cancer awareness, prevention and regular screenings. The creative performance effectively captured the attention of the audience and conveyed crucial messages about the disease.

Following the mime act, Dr. N. Nithyaanandan delivered an informative session on cervical cancer. It focuses on causes, risk factors, symptoms and preventive measures. Through engaging discussions and interactive presentations, students gained valuable knowledge about the significance of regular screenings, HPV vaccination and lifestyle modifications in reducing the risk of cervical cancer.

Subsequently, Dr. Abinaya addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of early detection and timely treatment in improving cervical cancer outcomes. She provided insights into the latest advancements in cervical cancer diagnosis and treatment options, empowering students with essential information to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

This programme served as a valuable initiative in promoting health education and well-being among students. The programme aimed to empower the students to prioritize their health and take proactive steps towards preventing cervical cancer.
