DEEKSHARAMBH 26 Student Induction Programme Day 2 The Cyber Safety for the Digital Generation

The Cyber Safety for the Digital Generation session was conducted as part of DEEKSHARAMBH'26 – Student Induction Programme (Day 2) on 07 July 2026 at the auditorium of PPG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. The resource person, Dr. M. Jaikumar, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Applications, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, and Company Commander, Tamil Nadu Home Guards, Coimbatore District, delivered an insightful session on the importance of cybersecurity in today's digital world. He highlighted the growing dependence on digital platforms and the need for students to develop responsible online habits while safeguarding their personal and academic information.

The session covered key aspects of cyber safety, including creating strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, recognizing phishing emails and online scams, protecting personal data on social media, avoiding cyberbullying, and ensuring safe online transactions. Dr. Jaikumar also explained the legal implications of cybercrime and encouraged students to use digital technologies ethically and responsibly. Through practical examples and interactive discussions, students gained valuable knowledge on identifying online threats and adopting preventive measures to ensure a secure digital presence, making the session highly informative and relevant for the digital generation.
