Inaugural Ceremony-2025

The Department of English at PPG College of Arts and Science proudly hosted the “Inaugural Ceremony” on October 3, 2024, in Seminar Hall II. This exciting event, part of the college's ongoing efforts to promote a reading culture, was coordinated by Mrs. D. Deepikadevi, Head of the Department of English, alongside Ms. S. Sharmila, Assistant Professor, Department of English who served as the event's coordinator.

The event's organization was smooth and the selection of 10 student office bearers highlighted the club's focus on student leadership, empowering students to take charge of future activities and initiatives. The ceremony ran with the selection of student office bearers being a highlight of the event. For the Skylark Club, Ms. Megala from III B. Com IT was appointed as the President, Ms. Soniya from II B. Com PA was chosen as the Vice President, Mr. Jeeva from II BCA was selected as the Secretary, Mr. Rahul from I BSC DA was selected as Joint Secretary and Mr. Vasanth from II BCOM was selected as Treasurer. Similarly, for the Readers Club, Ms. Kirubhashini from III B. Com CA was appointed as the President, Mr. Suganth from II B. Com was chosen as the Vice President, Ms. Swetha from II BSC IT was selected as the Secretary, Ms. Sharunya from I BCOM CA was selected as Joint Secretary and Mr. Anush Kumar from II BSC CS was selected as Treasurer. In a solemn moment, 10 students took an official oath, pledging to uphold the values and objectives of both the Skylark and Readers Clubs.

The inclusion of a communication platform through the launch of a WhatsApp Channel was seen as a forward-thinking move, ensuring that members remained engaged and informed about upcoming events and discussions.

The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the official logos for the Department of English, Skylark Literary Club and the Readers Club, underscoring the institution's dedication to fostering a love for literature and creative expression. Attended by enthusiastic students and faculty members, the one-day event set the stage for a vibrant year of literary exploration and intellectual discourse, providing an excellent platform for collaboration and growth within the reading community.
