Pongal Thiruvizha

PPG College of Arts and Science, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) organized Pongal Thiruvizha as part of the National Youth Day celebration. The programme was conducted with the objective of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values among students and staff.

The celebration was held on 12 January 2026 at 10.00 a.m. at the Corporation Primary School, Kanthaswamy Nagar. The event highlighted the cultural significance of Pongal, symbolizing gratitude to nature and farmers for their invaluable contributions to society.

The programme was convened by Dr. N. Muthumani and coordinated by Dr. V. Haridas. Traditional decorations and Pongal preparation added cultural richness to the celebration. A total of 50 NSS volunteers actively participated, along with faculty members, making the event lively and meaningful.

The Pongal Thiruvizha successfully fostered unity, cultural awareness, and respect for traditional values, reflecting the institution’s commitment to cultural heritage and social responsibility.
