Introduction:

Women Empowerment Cell, PPGCAS organized an extension programme at the Government Higher Secondary School, Anaiyur, Annur. It focuses on two crucial aspects of student well-being: Career Guidance and Menstruation Hygiene Awareness. The program aimed to create an awareness of wellness and good health with a focus on menstrual hygiene as well as offer students with the necessary knowledge and resources for succeeding in their career choices.

Career Guidance Session:

Mrs. K. Yasotha, Assistant professor, Head of the Computer Science Department, and Convener of WEC, started the program with an engaging career advising session at 2:30 PM. The session was mainly intended for 12th-grade students and included strategies for both professional and personal development along with insights into numerous career paths and educational options. Students were encouraged to research their interests, strengths, and aspirations to make informed choices about their future careers.

Following the career guidance, school students had the opportunity to explore the insights by various department students, at PPG College of Arts and Science. Students were given various academic fields and career paths as well as useful information about the subject matter, career possibilities, and real-world applications.

Menstruation Hygiene Awareness Session:

Simultaneously, Ms. N. Manjula Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, and Ms. S. Sharmila, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Coordinators of WEC led an engaging session on feminine hygiene awareness for students from 6th to 12th grade. The goals of the session were to eliminate the common untruths and misunderstandings about menstruation and to encourage proper sanitation and menstrual health management. Students can learn essential facts about the importance of menstrual hygiene and health through engaging discussions and informative speeches. This helped to create an environment of transparency and support within the school community.
